My Thoughts: Covergirl Melting Pout Product Review

I was pleasantly surprised when I got a package notification at home, when I knew I hadn’t ordered anything! I was even more excited when I received the box containing Covergirl Melting Pout products sent to me complimentary for testing purposes. So, did I fall in love with them? Read more to find out!

HERE’S WHAT I GOT

Covergirl Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade 305, Ballerina
Covergirl Melting Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade 340, Current Nude
Covergirl Melting Pout Glitz Top Coat in shade 405, Double Platinum

MY FAVORITE PRODUCT:

Hands down, the Glitz Top Coat. It’s a really pretty gloss, it goes on nice and smooth and it’s not sticky. I love it on it’s own and as a top coat!

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE…

I’m not impressed with the Matte Liquid Lipstick. It doesn’t dry all the way down like most of my matte lipsticks, and I don’t like the tacky finish. Also, it’s goes on streaky so it’s hard to get a nice even opaque finish. The shades pretty much look the same, if I was going to purchase these I wouldn’t buy both because there isn’t much of a difference between the two. I did like the lipsticks a little more when I used the topcoat over them.

Here they are on their own:

Shade 305, Ballerina
Shade 340, Current Nude

Here they are with the topcoat

Shade 305, Ballerina, with topcoat
Shade 340, current nude, with topcoat

FINAL VERDICT

The matte lipstick retails for $6.99 at Target. I think their are better options within that price point. My favorite is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream which is also $6.99 and outperforms this lipstick, hands down. Another great option, also by NYX, is Liquid Suede. It’s also $6.99.
