Getting Fit During the Pandemic

These sure are crazy times, and that’s an understatement. I finally bit the bullet after saying I was going to get back in shape for months. Then, the Coronavirus through a wrench in my progress.

For me, the secret to getting fit during the pandemic was finding my tribe.

I made a goal to improve my physical fitness last year. For me, there’s no goal weight or size. I just want to look and feel better.

Getting on the right track

I joined Orangetheory Fitness in November. Classes filled up quickly, so I had to schedule them in advance. Plus, there’s a cancellation fee if you don’t show up. That helped me make sure my behind was in the studio twice a week!

Things were going really well until gyms in Maryland closed in March in response to the Coronavirus. I did nothing for about three.

Working Out at Home

If you’re anything like me, you set a time to work out at home. Then, that keeps getting pushed further and further back. Eventually, that time becomes tomorrow, then the next day, then the following day. You see where I’m going with this.

I needed to get back on track. My husband and his #StruggleFitness workouts helped me do just that! He sets times and posts them on Facebook, along with a link to join on Zoom.

Having a “class” time keeps us accountable. Working out with others makes it more enjoyable.

If you’re struggling with staying on track with your at-home workouts I suggest reaching out to a few friends. Set up a time to work out. Hold each other accountable. The great thing about Zoom is that you can share your screen. So, if you’re not into making up workouts you can watch a workout and do it together!

So far, I’ve worked out every day for more than three weeks! I never thought I’d say that!

Have you been getting fit during the pandemic? What are some of your tips for staying motivated?
