Babywearing, What’s That?!
As a new mom, I have to admit, I had no idea what babywearing was! Fortunately, my sister helped get me started. She’s already mom to my five-year-old niece, and we were pregnant at the same time! Our babies are about six weeks apart. With a toddler and a newborn at home, she shared how helpful babywearing is for her. So, learning to babywear was top of mind for me once we settled in with Ace at home.
Getting Started
We added babywearing wraps to our baby registry. Essentially, they’re super long, soft, stretchy pieces of fabric. I had no idea how to use them, but my sister pointed me in the right direction. She sent me this video which was a huge help. I practiced a couple of times without Ace to make sure I had it right, then it was time for the real deal! I popped Ace in and he immediately got cozy and relaxed.
Benefits of Learning to Babywear
Being hands-free is awesome! At home, I’m able to get some tasks done around the house while making sure Ace is cozy and comfortable. I’m wearing him as I type right now!
We’re also able to get, what I’ve decided to call, active naps in. We’ve made long walks a part of our morning routine. Ace enjoys the view of the back of his eyelids while we walk around a mile and a half! It’s nice to get some fresh air while he sleeps. He’s very tired because being a baby is hard work haha
Sharing is Caring!
