Concealer is the bane of my existence. It’s truly a love/hate relationship. I love highlighting and contouring—love, love, LOVE it! However, having a creased-up mess under your eye halfway through the day is NOT cute lol
After trial and error, and the support of countless YouTube videos I have come up with a crease free concealer method.
- Dampen a fluffy brush with a makeup setting spray. My favorite is the Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix. I apply it with a Real Techniques duo fiber crease brush, concentrating only on the areas where I find my concealer creases.
- Next, apply your concealer. I use a few different brands, but I always use the Real Techniques Concealer brush to apply it. You should notice that it’s sticking and staying in place right under your eye, where you dabbed on the setting spray.
- Set your work with a powder. My favorite is the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. I dust on a light layer with the Real Techniques setting brush.
- Now it’s time to bake. I apply a generous amount of Ben Nye Banana Powder using a dry Beauty Blender Micro Mini sponge. Doing this helps prevent “flashback” from the white Laura Mercier powder–very important if you’ll be taking pictures!
- Wait 5-10 minutes to let the Banana Powder set. I usually work on the rest of my face during this time. Then, I use a powder brush, dipped in a small amount of Make Up Forever HD microfinish powder to brush away the excess. The MUFE powder helps smooth things out, giving a “soft focus” effect.
There you have it!! Check out the crease free concealer in the photos below! The picture on the left is without a flash, and I used the flash for the shot on the right.
