Microdermabrasion At Home with Michael Todd Skincare

Microdermabrasion at Home

The Sonic Refresher was gifted to me by Michael Todd Beauty. All opinions are my own.

I started getting microdermabrasion several years ago and it was a game-changer! I missed the treatments when spas closed due to the pandemic.

What is Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a form of physical exfoliation. The process gently removes the top layer of skin. At-home tools use a combination of coarse discs and suction to achieve this result. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, the treatments can help your complexion appear, “smoother, brighter, and more even in color.”

I definitely noticed those changes in my skin after I started getting the treatments done.

Performing Microdermabrasion at Home

If you have sensitive skin or have never tried microdermabrasion before, you may want to consult a dermatologist before performing the procedure at home.

I love that the Michael Todd Beauty Sonic Refresher has three suction settings. That allows you to customize your treatment every time and make sure it’s not too harsh for your skin.

You can easily change the suction level by pressing the microderm button when the device is on.

The device also comes with three diamond tips: coarse, fine, and small fine.

The coarse tip helps remove dull, dead skin. Use the small fine tip to target lines, wrinkles, and hard-to-reach areas, like around the nose. The fine tip is used to polish and smooth the skin. It preps your skin for increased product absorption.

Hydrating After Microdermabrasion

The best part of this device is the built-in mister.

The sonic refresher is the world’s first wet/dry sonic microdermabrasion system for home use. You can fill the reservoir with your favorite toner, or water.

A funnel and bottle are included to make filling the tank easy, and mess-free.

The device transforms the liquid into a micronized mist. It is truly lovely. I used a Mario Badescu spray.

The mist is cool and refreshing. Plus, I loved the calming lavender scent from the facial spray I used.

Keeping the Device Clean

Clean up is fairly simple! I cleanse the diamond tips with a spoolie. The device comes with filters.

The filters catch everything the device suks out of your pores, and you simply throw them away!

Be sure to replace the filter before using the device again to prevent damaging it.

Will You Try Microdermabrasion at Home?

Make sure you don’t overdo it! Performing microdermabrasion too often can damage your skin. I perform this treatment once a week, or once every two weeks.

The device is $99, which is roughly what you’d pay for one microdermabrasion treatment at a spa.
